Today, due to my completely blank schedule (surprise surprise), I decided to head out, look for some Christmas presents and have a coffee (or two).
I'd walked past 'Loft Cafe' a few times but it was always full of young people drinking and looking cool and it looked kind of fancy. However, today when I actually looked inside I realised it was just as much of a cute cafe as it was a bar, so I ventured in whilst there weren't many other people around.
There were a million different pastries and sweet things to choose from...
...So, with the sweet tooth I have, I went for a cappuccino and a nutella croissant.
The actual interior of the cafe was really nice and quirky...
As well as some interesting artwork in the toilet...
I had the whole place to myself so I settled down with my book and relaxed.
Once I'd finished I thought I may as well stay mooching around town for a few hours as I wanted to get some dusk type photos of the Christmas lights before the sky went completely dark.
I managed to find a couple of Christmas presents before finding another cafe that I wanted to try. I really didn't need another coffee but the waiter kind of assumed that's what I wanted so I just went along with it, and got some free biscuits out of it!
This cafe was supposedly Irish themed (pft) but really decorative and bright. There was nice music on and only an old woman and a couple sat in there so again I just chilled out with my book while a couple of the staff put up Christmas decorations and the tree.
By this point I was basically shaking because of all the caffeine that my body is not used to! So I headed back out into the fresh air, did some more window shopping and got some food shopping too, all in the hope that by the time I was done it would be dark enough and the Christmas lights would come on and I could get snapping.
I bumped into my friend Desmond whilst getting my food so we both went to perch on a step and wait for the lights.
We waited for about half an hour and thought that 5 oclock would be the grand finale but, no. Sigh.
So we thought, 'meh, they'll still be here tomorrow' and headed home.
So, no photos of Perugia's Christmas lights today but hopefully soon!
And I'm glad I tried both of these cafes today as I had no idea what they'd be like. Just paying for it with a caffeine headache now...
I have posts planned to go up every day up until Christmas now, so I hope you've enjoyed a little insight into a couple of Italian cafes and come back tomorrow for another post!
